Specifications of our products for Flight Simulator X

 

SceneryBox products are split in two main categories

 

All our products are derived from aerial photographs(IGN, ...).

Airport - repositioning on the photographs

Runways, taxiways and aprons of the 342 French airports from  FSX were all well repositioned in order to match with the aerial photograph.

 

Airport - removing of the platform effect

The mesh has been processed over the whole country to remove the plarform effect.

 

Enhanced definition mesh

Our products contain a twice more detailed mesh than FSX to match exactly with the aerial photograph.

 

Precise redraw of the seashore

More than 6500km of sea shore was redrawn, plus, most large water areas were also processed to be navigable.

The river system is being processed and will be offered soon for update.

 

Correction of color hard breaks within water area

The aerial photograph was processed to avoid the mozaic effect.

 

Special seabed processing near seashores

Aquatic areas are processed to bring up the seabed near the coast.

 

Lakes - removing the water effect on the shore relief

All the lakes of our products are processed to avoid a "water on the terrain" effect.

 

Removing of the atmospheric haze

Aerial photographs contain some kind of fog, due to the capture. We designed a technology that removes this fog and shows enhanced contrasts. The first product wich contains this technology is France X - Business Class. 

 

Reduction of hard color break 

Current capture techniques of aerial photographs produce hard color breaks between geographic area (month/year of capture, camerawork...). Thus, we lead a Research & Development phase during several month to design a new way of processing aerial images, to reduce those effects. This technology enables to set the borders smoother. The first product that uses this process is France X - Business Class.

 

Airport maps

Our products are all provided with their approach map (when available). Those electronic PDF map are provided by the friendly authorization of SIA and can not be duplicated.

 

High definition, for VFR flights

All our First Class products are based on 1.2m/pixel definition images, over the whole country, and an enhanced definition of 60cm/pixel around airports areas.

In our opinion, it is the best compromise between performance and quality.Our VFR products are designed and optimized for flights from 1500 ft ASFC.

 

Framerate

We are working a lot around optimisation for the best framerate. Then it is possible to reach 50-60 FPS with our products (based on our test machine : quadcore 2.9 GHz + GeForce 285 GTX). Our products do not edit the setting of Flight Simulator X, thus, a great compatibility is guaranteed with other software editors add-ons (airport, mesh...).

Autogen

Autogen technology is great, but not with real aerial photos. That's why it is not included in our product. This consists of putting standard houses and trees over real photographs. You cannot recognize your house on the aerial photos because of Autogen.
We are working on a new technology which will be better than autogen. It will allow you to still recognize your house!
It will be available soon for our customers (free of charge).

 

Compatibility

Our products do not edit the setting of Flight Simulator X, thus, a great compatibility is guaranteed with other software editors add-ons (airport, mesh...).

Soon...

We are about to use the processes used for France X - Business Class, to process the entire First Class range. An upgrade will be available soon, containing enhancement of color quality and soft color border.

Our product are still only available in summer version, at day light. Actually, no night or winter capture  for all the country exist at this moment. However, we are currently working on algorithm to simulate those specific photographs. We aim to provide you a never reached yet quality of flight conditions.

Software requirements

Our product are excusively made for Microsoft® Flight Simulator® X Service Pack 2 (SP2) et Microsoft® Flight Simulator® X Acceleration Extension Pack.

Acceleration Extension Packis a profitable add-on for Flight Simulator® X.

Hardware Requirements

To fully appreciate our products, your computer must at least include:

Dual core CPU at 2.7GHz. Memory (RAM) 2Go. Graphique card 512Mo (dedicated) with DirectX9. Minimum storage space depends on the product.
